Question: today i found out that i had cholesterol what food do i need to avoid and what food should i eat to help lower my cholesterol

The foods that have cholesterol in them are all animal foods. While the most effective drugs can lower cholesterol by 30 to 50%, dietary changes can make similar improvements. Contrary to popular belief switching from red meat to white meat often does not do anything to improve cholesterol levels. This is because cholesterol and saturated fat levels are actually similar in the two 'types' of meat. According to the USDA, chicken giblets have the most cholesterol in them, so definitely avoid those. Fortunately, your body both makes cholesterol and absorbs it. So if you cut out all the foods with cholesterol in them from your diet, your body can make what it needs to, and will make just enough. To cut out all of the cholesterol from your diet avoid all meats, eggs and dairy. It may be hard, but it is doable. Start with one e.g. dairy, and then tackle the other food groups after wards. Replace these foods with whole grains, vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts and you'll feel like a whole new person.

cholesterol is ONLY found in animal products - meat, cheese, milk, eggs, and butter. veggies and bread products do not have any cholesterol. pork/beef has the most cholesterol, fish has the least (fish is very healthy for you! and a great replacement for red meat). anything deep fried is also bad. daily exercise for at least 30 mins a day has been scientifically proven to reduce bad cholesterol levels, even without a drastic change in diet. -- nursing student, i took a nutrition class like a year ago.

Have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast? It's a powder mix that you put in 1 cup of milk. 130 calories for dry mix, 220 including the cup of skim milk. Has twice the protein of an egg, & comes in flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. It's yummy. In fact, I'm drinking one now.

Any UNPROCESSED fresh food is ok for you. |Try to stick to wholegrain foods if you can change your taste and switch to brown rice and wholemeal pasta that may help if not try half and half. Other than that for the diabetes it is just a case of checking the ADDED sugar content of the food(some people prefer to watch the carbs) Some advice I was given when first diagnosed was to look at the GI of the food( see link below) This will help you learn about how some foods affect the blood glucose and will cause spikes and drops which you want to avoid (high GI) and ones which are absorbed slowly and will help keep your level steady (low/ mediun GI) For your blood pressure you need to cut back on salt if you use a lot and really can not manage without it then try Lo salt which is a salt substitute. For your Cholesterol you need to watch the amount of fats and oils in your diet cut out as much animal fat as possible grill meat rather than frying. if you use mince then put it in a pan and turn on the heat without adding any oil and you will be amazed at what you can drain of, If you do not mind the taste use extra virgin olive oil for most things,. Basically for all of them the best thing is to try and stick to a well balanced varied diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and as few processed foods as possible
