Question: I love smoothies but I don't really know any recipes for them. If anyone can give me a recipe for a good smoothie, I would really appreciate it. If anyone knows any with like energy, protein, or whatever kind of additions like that, that would be great too. Thank you.

Make this smoothie every morning for breakfast. It’s rich in vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, omega-3 fats, monounsaturated fats, soy protein, and so much more! Ingredients 1 banana 1/2 apple 1 kiwi, peeled 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries 1 cup orange juice 1/2 cup soy milk 1/2 cup nonfat plain yogurt 1/2 cup tofu 3 tablespoons unsalted natural peanut butter 2 tablespoons aloe vera juice 2 tablespoons flaxseed oil 1 teaspoon barley grass powder (optional) Directions 1 In a blender, combine banana, apple, kiwi, mixed berries and orange juice. Blend until smooth. Add soy milk, yogurt, tofu, peanut butter, aloe vera juice, flaxseed oil, and barley grass powder. Blend again until well blended. Pour into glasses and serve. Ingredients 1/2 cup apple juice 1/2 cup low fat vanilla yogurt 1 cup fresh peaches, sliced, partially frozen 1/2 cup raspberries, partially frozen 1 1/2 cups ice chips Directions Pour ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Ingredients: 1 ripe canary melon or honeydew melon Juice of one lemon or lime, to taste Directions: Cut melon in half and scoop seeds out with a spoon. Use spoon to dig the flesh out of the entire melon and place melon chunks in blender. Add 1/2 of lemon or lime juice and a little water if necessary to blend melon chunks into a smooth drink. If your blender isn't very strong, you may find it helpful to jiggle it around gently to get the melon chunks to drop towards the blades as it's blending. Add rest of lemon or lime juice, to taste. Serves 2-3 people. Enjoy this marvelous melon smoothie recipe! STRAWBERRY-BLACKBERRY SMOOTHY 6-8 strawberries (fresh or frozen) 6-8 blackberries (fresh or frozen) 8 ice cubes 2 1/2 cups lowfat or non-fat milk 1 scoop whey powder Rinse and cut tops of strawberries, and rinse blackberries. Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and enjoy. Perfect for dieting, or leave out whey powder and add ice cream for a delicious smoothy drink. Makes about 3-5 cups. Prep time: 5 minutes 1/2 cup lowfat silken tofu 3/4 cup frozen pineapple chunks 1/2 cup lowfat coconut or pina colada flavor yogurt 1 tablespoon flaxseed oil 1/4 teaspoon coconut extract 1/3 cup water In a blender mix tofu and pineapple chunks on whip setting for about 20 seconds, until well incorporated. Next, add yogurt, flaxseed oil, coconut extract and water. Continue to whip for 1 5 seconds. Freeze leftovers. (To reuse, defrost for about 10 minutes, then blend for about 40 seconds or until smooth.) 1. Calorie-Controlled Snacks. Plenty of consumers are buying the 100-calorie (more or less) snack packs of everything from chips to cupcakes, but are they really the answer for weight loss? 2. Healthier Fast Food. Fast food restaurants don't have to spell disaster for dieters. Try Quiznos' Flatbread Sammies without cheese or dressing (all less than 250 calories, except the Italiano) or a small Honey Bourbon Chicken sub (275 calories); Taco Bell's Fresco-style items (less than 180 calories); McDonald's Southwest salad with grilled chicken (290 calories without dressing); or any of Subway's subs with 6 grams of fat or less (230-380 calories). 3. Low-Fat and Fat-Free Dairy Products. Milk, yogurt (solid, frozen, and drinkable), cheese, sour cream, and cream cheese are available in lower-fat varieties that offer both healthy nutrients and great taste. Laughing Cow light cheese has only 35 calories per individually wrapped wedge, and Yoplait Fiber One nonfat yogurt combines yogurt crunchy cereal for a fiber boost and only 50-80 calories per 4 oz. cup. Fat-free half-and-half is a suitable substitute for heavy cream with a fraction of the calories. And lower-fat and fat-free cream cheese and sour cream can easily pitch-hit for their fattier counterparts, particularly in recipes. "You can trim calories effortlessly if you use low-fat and lighter products and if the product is mixed in with other ingredients, no one will ever notice," says Elaine Magee, MPH, RD, and the "Recipe Doctor" for WebMD and a WebMD blogger.
