Question: I'm trying to lose weight after having a child. My goal weight loss is 20-25 lbs..I have been eating healthier and less..and also doing Jillian Michael's "ripped in 30"...I have started to drink a shake with whey protein in it after or before working out cuz I heard it can aide in the weight loss...after researching I find that it can actually make you gain weight?? I'm so confused and I don't know if this is actually setting me up for failure???? Help please! any info is greatly appreciated

The benefits of whey protein in whey loss comes from the fact that it gives your body the protein you need without having a lot of calories. However, if taken in larger quantities, it can make you gain weight. It sounds like you only take 1 scoop after a workout, which won't affect your weight loss goals. So rest easy and follow the nutritional plan you have.

They're all bad because your body needs food, not junk. Your body does not store protein. So, a protein supplement can only benefit you if your diet is deficient in protein. And, if it is deficient, fix the diet. Eat food. Protein is the most misunderstood nutrient in bodybuilding. You can easily get that amount of protein with a glass of milk and a chicken breast or piece of meat per day. Bodybuilders don't work as hard as they would like to believe. They just eat a good diet and their bodies adapt with no problem. A bodybuilder can only work out 10 hours a week at the most because of the recovery time required by the muscles. Marathon runners, boxers, Olympic athletes, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, etc. all train much harder and they do it without supplements. Most protein supplements are scams. Whey protein is for people who have just worked out. It helps to knit torn muscles nicer. If your up for it go work out then 30 after you finish drink the Whey protein mix. Otherwise dont drink the protein.
