The latest I've heard about Lipitor is all bad, sorry. Sorry to hear about your husband's heart attack too. His cholesterol and heart issues can be alleviated through alternatives, starting with a healthy organic diet full of fiber and vegetables and exercise.
Considering that is sounds like his condition is quite severe at present, it would be best to seek out the aid of a naturopath who will work with his current MD prescribed program to help improve things. It can be turned around, but it will take more than a magic pill and a lot of effort on yours and your husband's part.

Vegan means no animal products.
Raw vegan means no animal products and no food heated over 118 degrees.
Vegan might be cheaper, if you eat a lot of beans, rice, pasta, and root vegetables.
Raw vegan might not be, since if you're consuming a lot of uncooked produce, it should be organic.
Raw vegan doesn't mean no caffeine or chocolate- it simply means that over 75% of your calories are uncooked. My kids had raw pudding pops last night that contained both caffeine and chocolate- made from avocados, agave nectar and raw, organic cacao.
Breatharian is not raw vegan by any stretch of the imagination.
I'm raw vegan, and have been for about eight years. Prior to going raw I developed horrific allergies and digestive problems. A doctor (my husband) recommended a raw diet for two weeks to pinpoint food sensitivities. I found out I had problems with gluten- and as a vegan I had been consuming tons of it.
I felt so good after the two weeks, I just kept at it.
Before taking this medicine
You should not use Lipitor if you are allergic to atorvastatin, or if you have:
- liver disease; or
- if you are pregnant or breast-feeding.
To make sure Lipitor is safe for you, tell your doctor if you have:
- muscle pain or weakness;
- history of liver disease;

Lipitor can cause a condition that results in the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, leading to kidney failure. This condition may be more likely to occur in older adults and in people who have kidney disease or poorly controlled hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).
This medicine can harm an unborn baby or cause birth defects. Do not use if you are pregnant. Stop taking Lipitor and tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant Use effective birth control to prevent pregnancy while you are taking this medicine.
Atorvastatin may pass into breast milk and could harm a nursing baby. Do not breast-feed while you are taking Lipitor.
Atorvastatin is not approved for use by anyone younger than 10 years old.

my brother is on lipitor but he also takes CO Q10 vitamin because it will damage the liver if you do not take it when on statin meds. If at all possible look for an alternative med to take to lower cholesterol. They say that cholesterol is not what causes the blockage or heart attacks. ? Do some research on line for natural remedies and for more information regarding this.

I've a question for you...Is his Cholesterol high or is his ratio of good to bad off? If it's just the ratio than try diet and exercise...Otherwise have him use Zocor it's far safer than Lipitor...But use it with a does of Co-Q10 Enzyme so that you protect the Kidneys...PEACE!

My grandmother was on this drug after having a heart attack, she was recently admitted to the hospital with renal failure this after having extreme back and muscle pain for a few months...everyone said it was because she was 'getting old' after being in the hospital for 3 weeks and a change in medication shes good as new! We looked into side effect of the drug from the website and low and behold, muscle pain and renal failure in extreme cases were on the list.

eating a healthy and balanced diet is the best thing you can do for yourself.there have been no prov-en links between eating meat and cancer rates and as for heart related problems both meat eaters and vegans have the same rates of heart related diseases and it has been prov-en by the A.M.A and by other medical journals.chicken and fish are very good meats if eaten in moderation the same is said for red meats but all of them need to be done in moderation and with a balance of vegetables and fruit.there are some alternative meats on the market but you wont find them in a grocery store like yak,ostrich,squid,buffalo and are high in protein and low in fat but can be expensive to buy.i cant drink milk so i don't,i don't eat fast food because the closest one to me is 30 miles away and i don't like the taste of it anyway,for the money i eat a lot of rice and pasta and i can add things like tuna,hamburger,chicken or just eat it with a good tomato or curry but i always add some vegetables and have some fruit to snack on.eat what makes you feel good and will supply you with the nutrients you will need for the day.
