Varna, Varna, Varna, I know how you feel, I'll tell you what I did. I got this from a doctor. He told me "The Stone-Age" diet was the best for me and it has proved to be true. I eat plenty of protein, Meat, fish, eggs, yoghourt, NO cereal or bread or cakes or pasta or potatoes or rice. (You can get all the carbs you need from lots of vegetables such as carrots, pumpkin, sweet potato etc) Eat plenty of fruit and green veg. too, and drink lots of water (and cut right down on salt) If you eat plenty of protein you won't feel hungry. Make sure you have breakfast. If you don't want to cook bacon and eggs for breakfast, try a kipper, they only take a few minutes in boiling water and they're done. If you can't face kippers, do what I do and make sure there is enough food the night before to keep some for breakfast. I often have some casserole for brekky because I know it'll keep me going for hours!
It's unconventional, but what the hell! When I started this I lost 14 lbs in two weeks. What I'm discovering now, to my surprise, is that I feel less hungry than I used to when I was eating a lot, and if I come home and have a piece of cheese I feel as though I won't be able to manage a full dinner! To begin with I didn't feel like that. I found it hard to find things to cook because I was used to making Lasagne, Gumbo, Moussaka and other dishes with lots of sauce and it was hard to think in a new way, but now I'm happy because I feel somewhat fitter (and improving my strength through exercising, walking and dance) and I can move about more easily which is soooooo nice. Oh, and sugar is a no-no. Give it a go, you've got nothing to lose but some lbs, and although it is a bit daunting at first, you get past that stage fairly rapidly and start to feel good in a matter of a few weeks. Good luck. I'll be rooting for ya!!
And here's a little exercise that could help to burn off a few calories.
Stand in a comfortable place with enough space around you so that you can stretch your arms. Get two 5 lb potato sacks, hold one in each hand and lift your arms out from your sides, until they are at the level of your shoulders, try and hold it for a minute. Do this for a week and then the next week use 10 lb potato sacks to build even greater strength, when you've done that successfully for a week move up to 15 lb and 20 lbs until you can lift a 25 lb potato sack in each hand. When you can confidently do that, try putting a potato in each sack! Happy days:)

Birth weight has nothing to do with your weight gaining potential. The answer to your question is as simple as:
Lift weights consistently (4-5 days out the week), eatwhite potatoes for carbohydrates to keep you energized, make sure you also eat yams every day they'll give you explosive growth since they're loaded with tons of vitamins. Also make sure you get AT LEAST 3000-4000 calories a day.
At your age you may also want to take a multivitamin vitamin every morning just to give you that extra edge. Also Zinc promotes normal healthy growth & supports your immune system.
Yes, you may have a little layer of fat while you build muscle but you can cut that off whenever you want by shredding calories & cardiovascular exercise; I advise you don't do this until you get a decent amount of muscle tho.
Hope this helps
Diet is a bad word! Modifying your diet is the way to go. First off, check with a doctor and see if it's medical or caloric intake that's killing you. Let's assume it's caloric and lack of excersize. Lower you caloric intake a couple hundred calories for a few weeks until your stomach get used to it... DO NOT cut your intake by half or anything close to that amount. A little at a time so your body gets used to the lowering of calories and you don't feel like you're starving.
When you get used to it, lower it a couple more hundred. This will eventually lead to a smaller intake without the feeling of hunger. Drink lots of water so you don't dehydrate and eat more smaller meals throughout the day rather than the ole "3 squares" a day.
Quick story... a buddy of mine was pushing 300 lbs at 5'9"... he modified his diet and started to exercise and eventually run after losing enough weight to avoid knee strain. He now weighs 170lbs and I can barely tell it's him! He looks great and keeps it off by watching what he eats. He still eats pizza and wings and "bad" foods... just not as much nor as often.
DO NOT diet... modify your lifestyle and before you know it... you won't even remember your lifestyle ever changed!!!

Dieting it rough, I know. That's why I never refer to them as diets. I call them, "Healthy Lifestyle Changes." Try logging onto ediets.com for some suggestions on how you can jump start your "healthy lifestyle change." if you find that you're eating healthier and exercising and not seeing any results, talk to a doctor about having your thyroid checked to make sure that it's functioning properly.

the one simple rule of losing weight is burning more calories than you consume...... calorie count and eat what you want but within the calorie limits...... try 800 cals a day
for instance you could have 1 portion burger and chips or 5 baked potatoes with tuna and salad....
get what im doing.... just eat sensible and EXCERCISE!
work out for 30mins four times a week!

This might not be your fault, it may be a medical condition. Talk to your doctor. And what ever you do, check it out first; research is always the best way to go.

Originally Answered: why dont women exercise instead of dieting?
All women ever hear about are dieting methods and techniques. Magazines, books, television, radio, and more are full of dieting advertisements. Women are rarely told that exercising could be the exact answer to their weight loss issues.
Personally, I've never read one female magazine that encourages exercising to achieve our desired weight, but harmful dieting and pills instead. My friend started a diet last year that required her to drink nothing more than water and one bar of cereal a day.
We're also fed the idea that exercising will transform us into masculine and muscled freaks, which we'd obviously want to avoid. Read this article:
MrPhotographer, do you really think I'm interested in dieting at my size? I only read magazines when getting my hair dyed, which can take four hours. I've always eaten a balanced diet, along with exercising daily to maintain my toned figure.
I was brought up on a farm/plant nursery, so I was taught what truly was good for the body food-wise, and I was considered as a tomboy - people hated that.
