Question: I'm trying to lose weight but I love food! I'm on a calorie restriction of 1400 a day, but I was wondering if I ate, for example, a cheeseburger among others that day (and still did not go over my 1400 mark) will I still lose weight?

A guy did a Twinkies diet and lost the weight, like u said, as long as your calories are low, HOWEVER, by doing it this way you will not have energy and you will be irritable, on sugar highs. You will FEEL hungry whereas on a proper diet you will still maintain energy, feel good, and feel more satiated. Your body will also decline in many ways not eating nutritiously. You can have 'goodies' on the diet, but just LIMIT them. In fact, you'll probably stay on your diet if you cheat now and then, it just shouldn't be your mainstream diet. I just started myself and when I saw how many calories are in the goodies I was eating, I don't think I'll touch them or I won't be able to eat my lunch and dinner or I'll be over the 1,400. I don't suggest that you limit yourself to such a low intake of calories. Instead you should focus on things such as sugar content, synthetic made ingredients, carbs, and sodium. Also, eating late isn't necessarily a bad thing, but don't eat right before bed. You should have 5 or 6 small meals per day to keep your metabolism high and plateau. One or two or even three meals spread out over long periods of time result in insuline peaks and valleys (sugar highs and crashes), which kill your metabolism. Keeping it at a high plateau throughout the day, you'll burn more calories, have more energy, and don't have to worry about "oh my gosh, I can't eat this because it'll put me over this preset number!" 1400 is really an unhealthy number to shoot for, get at least 2000 spread throughout the day!

yes, it makes NO different to wt loss WHERE the calories come from, you can eat 1000 calories of doughnuts and it will have the same effects on wt loss as 1000 calories of apples! the difference is the effect it has on your satiation and blood sugar levels. fatty sugary foods don't make you feel full for very long, so you are then hungry again an hour later so you eat MORE.

You probably don't want to hear this, but there isn't a healthy way to lose 30 pounds in a month. A diet may help you lose 30 pounds in a month, but it will most likely be muscle mass that you lose, instead of fat. When you start a diet and exercise program, you could lose 10 pounds in a week, depending on how heavy you are, but after the first few weeks, losing 1-2 pounds per week is the recommended amount. The key to weight loss is simple: you have to burn more calories than you consume. If you still want to lose weight after reading this, go to www.ediets.com. They have a free diet profile that you can fill out.
