To avoid risk of a heart attack you need to lower your bad cholesterol or LDL. First of all, you should know the difference between LDL and HDL cholesterol. Simply think of HDL as "healthy" and LDL as "lousy." HDL can actually help carry cholesterol out of your blood vessels, while LDL allows it to deposit inside your artery walls. The good news is that you can change your cholesterol from LDL to HDL by watching what you eat and by exercising. This is critical to lowering your cholesterol levels. Here is how to do that: 1. Have a nice sandwich on whole wheat bread or a pita with some lean turkey and lots of fresh veggies. Skip the hot dogs, bologna, and salami, and hold the Mayo. All of those are highly processed and filled with fat and cholesterol. 2. Fish, like salmon, is good. Look for wild red salmon varieties, which are very high in Omega-3 fatty acids (good fat.) Also, flax seed is a good source of Omega-3s. 3. Avoid Trans fats! Not only do they raise the lousy LDL cholesterol, they can also lower your HDL levels! Stay away from foods like margarine, shortening, and processed foods containing partially hydrogenated soybean oil. 4. Go ahead, go nuts! Look for walnuts mainly but also try almonds, macadamia nuts, cashews, and pecans. Nuts are high in fat, but it's the good kind. (Also, use natural peanut butter instead of the normal kind which contains unhealthy Trans fats.) 5. Limit desserts and try to eat only the healthier ones like angel food cake, graham crackers, Jell-O, and fat-free frozen yogurt. 6. Eat foods that are high in fiber. Examples include whole wheat bread, oatmeal, fruits, vegetables, beans, and some cereals. (Look for the boxes that say "may help lower cholesterol.") 7. Use the grill. If you're going to have steak or burgers, grill them at home and use lean meat. This practice avoids the grease, is fun, and the meat tastes great. 8. Find a new salad dressing. Most of them are full of trans fats and cholesterol. Olive oil is good, and maybe add vinegar or lemon juice. Also, skip the bacon bits, croutons, and egg yolks. 9. Go overboard on fruits and vegetables. They contain no cholesterol and they have lots of nutrients like antioxidants. Here are some examples: green peas, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, oranges, mangos, papaya, pineapple, tomato, garlic, onions, spinach, water chestnuts, bananas, apricots, blueberries, and kiwi. 10. Avoid fast food like french fries and anything else from the deep fryer. Those foods will raise your cholesterol like crazy, so stay away from the burger joints if you can. 11. Bonus tip: Use spices like pepper and oregano to add flavor to your dishes. They are a healthy alternative to other toppings like mayonnaise. That was easy, wasn't it? Just make some easy changes in your life and get plenty of exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, or playing basketball. As with anything health related, diet and exercise are the two crucial components. You will have lower cholesterol in no time! Take care,

You just mentioned it, you're a hypochondriac and in your mind you got all the symptoms, it doesn't matter what someone tells you, you think you got it and for you it's a fact. Most probably you took to much of these diet pills and even drank to much of this ice coffee. I would vomit too if I had done that to my body, so if you want to loose weight you have to do it slowly. The faster you're loosing weight the faster it will be back and even more. This jojo -effect is pretty well known and you should avoid it. So calm down, you haven't got any heart attack, it's only a panic attack due to your anxiety and that you're an hypochondriac..

Usually people get heart attacks later in life, but really they can happen even in middle age. It is best to avoid eating too much red meat and fried food. Things that are good for heart health are salmon, walnuts, vegetables. Try searching for "heart health diet" in Yahoo! and you will probably get tons of results.

No. A heart attack can happen for any reason. But exercise is helpful. It reduces the risk of heart attacks. Drink tea for the stress. It'll help you calm down a bit. (:

Don't eat greasy foods often. Grease is made of extracted fats, which cause weight gain. People who are obese are more likely to have a heart attack, cardiac problems are in the history of your family.

Wisdom Originally Answered: What is thyroid ? What are the symptoms ? If untreated could it yield to enlarge of the heart or heart attack?
The thyroid is the gland found in front of your throat or trachea. It produces hormones that are necessary for metabolism of your body. Your thyroid can be hyperfunctioning (hyperthyroid) meaning it produces more than what is needed, hypofuntioning (hypothyroid) when it produces less than what hormon is needed or it can be euthyroid, it means you have enough. there is also a small gland located in the brain that stimulates or control your thyroid, so even if basically your thyroid is ok, if the pituitary gland is abnormal, it can cause your thyroid to either produce more or produce less hormones. The more hormones it produce, the larger the gland gets. You had toxic thyroid, it means thay you have a hyperfunctioning gland. the problem with this is that the hormones produced cause faster metabolism, therefore you can have increased heart rate, increase metabolism of the body so weight loss, poor tolerance to heat and cold, tremors, etc. eye problems can also manifest, like proptosis or protruberance of the eyeballs. You have to have your hormone levels check to see if its normal, whether you need supplements or anti-thyroid hormones. Your heart enlarges because the greater/faster metabolism exerts a higher toll in your body, increase HR, so the muscles in the heart are overdeveloped (just like when you do weight lifting, if you keep exercising the muscle, it grows bigger!)
