What foods are easiest to digest (other than the BRAT foods)? Topic: What foods are easiest to digest (other than the BRAT foods)?

Question: My stomach gets very sensitive and picky about the types of food it accepts when I get stressed out. I feel nauseous frequently and will often even throw up if the food I eat is too complex for my stomach to handle digesting. But, obviously, I still need to eat, and I still have to get the right nutrients into my body (like protein!). And while Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast are all really easy to digest, they just aren't enough to make up a balanced diet. So, what are some foods that are easy to digest and still have a decent amount of nutritional value? I struggle most with protein, since meat usually makes my stomach worse but is still crucial to a healthy diet. Any ideas?

Lentils are an excellent source of protein and they can be eaten with rice. Cottage cheese is protein rich and easy on the stomach. I love eating cottage cheese with rice. Yogurt is good. You may find you can eat foods in combination; for example, if tomato soup upsets your stomach, try eating it with saltine crackers or bread, you may find out your stomach can handle it. Try eating something high in fiber with the meat and see if that makes a difference.

Meat isn't crucial, but protein is. The problem you describe is pretty extreme and you may have a medical problem. It may be that you cannot tolerate gluten. It is a very common problem. I know a guy who kept eating toast because his stomach was so upset, and it turns out it was the gluten in the bread the whole time making him sick. In any case, if you don't have a medical problem at all, a period of time spent as a vegan (no dairy or meat of any kind) will almost certainly put it right. Then you can add foods back one at a time until you figure out what it is triggering it. Really doesn't sound like this is just nerves. Your stomach doesn't care how 'complicated' the food is, so something is triggering the response other than that.

Try soup- tomatoe basil is good or chicken noodle soup. Since you cant really eat meat- try eating yougurt. Buy plain yogurt and then sweeten it with natural sugar, cinnamin, fruit. Yogurt has tons of protein and it tastes delightful! I would also suggest going to a doctor and having him check you out. If nothing is majorly wrong then maybe he can give you a medication or suggest a meal plan. Good luck!

You might want to try peanut butter. It is good for protein and a lot easier to digest than meat. You can also make banana and peanut butter sandwiches. Another good source is beans, or soy beans. I'm not sure if those are harsh or easy on the stomach though.

Carbonated drinks are helpful if you feel like keeping your food down. Aside from that, try to eat light, eating super healthy isn't necessary unless these puking fits last a long period of time. Just keep experimenting with light foods. Foods like beans, tofu, and peanut butter will give you a lot of protein. But me? I enjoy eating McDonald's when I feel sick because the food will sit in your stomach like a giant, delicious, rock.

low fiber ANYTHING is easy to digest. Easy on the spices as well. well cooked food is also easier to digest. This is classic "soft" diet for stomach problems
