Question: I just found this facsinating, that ADHD sufferers are most likely allergic to artificial food colorings. I have ADHD and am interested in pursuing alternative methods to NOT CURE (because there is no cure), but to help minimize ADHD symptoms. I notice the coffee is not helping me like it used to, and I "crash" from it. And this is black coffee, no sugar in it. I get super hungry after the crash from the caffeine. Right now I am super hyper and at 26, it's not very cute so to speak. I am currently making chamomile tea, in the hopes it will make me calm down. I am getting bored so easily and it's driving me nuts, having my mind run a mile a minute and pulling me in 50 different directions. Do any of you ADD or ADHD sufferers have any methods that worked for you?

ADHD is a nutritional deficiency!!!!!!! seriously, google to see for yourself. you might want to get your nutrient levels for magnesium, zinc, and the b-vitamins checked out by the doctor/nurse. they will take a blood test to see if you're low in any of them. PS: don't take marijuana (like the other person suggested). drugs will just deplete you more of nutrients!

I have tried just about every thyroid supplement in the health food store...with no good results. I also did certain yoga positions (shoulder stands) which are supposed to stimulate the thyroid. The only thing that helps me is prescription medication... synthroid.

Well, that one is kind of tough. I mean, the most popular natural products for hormone support would be Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Vitex (also called Chasteberry), Wild Yam, Damiana Leaf, Motherwort, GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid, commonly in Borage Oil and Evening Primrose Oil), and some Soy germ products. However, I wouldn't normally recommend just randomly going on any or all of those without consulting some sort of doctor about a situation as severe as yours first. You might be able to get more advice from a Naturopath or similar doctor that works with nutrition, but some people just plain don't have access to doctors that believe supplements work at all and have to resort to just trying some natural products. Just remember that supplements can take a few weeks to see their full results and obviously your period would be one major indicator of how well it's working, so it might be tough to take just one at a time. Good luck and I hope I helped!
