I think I have type one diabetes.?

I think I have type one diabetes.? Topic: I think I have type one diabetes.?
July 16, 2019 / By Robbie
Question: I have hinted to my mother to take me to the doctor or to find out whats wrong with me. My family went to Ohio for nine days and I stayed home. They have been back for a while now, but in the past like 3 weeks I have gained one pound. I eat all the time! I was just sitting in the kitchen with my mother talking about how I have only gained one pound in the past couple of weeks. She was just like "uhmm, that's because you haven't eaten fatty foods." I told her everything I ate yesterday: a bowl of cereal, mac n' cheese, two grilled cheese sandwhiches, two honey buns, watermelon, cheese its, and potato chips. And I still didn't gain any weight. I don't want to just say "take me to the doctor to see if I have diabetes because I have some of the symptoms." I don't know if I am just paranoid, but she doesn't seem too concerned. I mean I have had mono, shingles, kidney stones, etc. In the past two years. I thought she would care more since i've had these problems, but it doesn't seem so.

I don't know if you are being "paranoid" or not. Can you specifically list your symptoms? Also, it is very easy for your doctor to screen you for diabetes. In my personal opinion, it is *always* better to be safe than sorry when it comes to Type 1 diabetes. Schedule a check up with your doctor. If you are having symptoms of Type 1 diabetes like extreme thirst and urination, tiredness, and weight loss, just to name a few, let your doctor know. There are other conditions that can cause weight loss or a failure to gain weight that are NOT Type 1 diabetes. You may also still be recovering from your previous viral infections. Then again, you may also be healthy with a fast metabolism! In that case lucky you! Regardless, you obviously do not feel "right", or you would not be here asking this question. It's never smart to ignore your body, especially in this case. See your doctor to be safe.

Well there are other symptoms about diabetes besides not gaining any wait. Usually a person in really thisy, and has to pee all the time. They are usually in a bad mood, and they start loosing alot of wait for no reason. Also, if you have high blood suger or any numbness in your feet. That is a more far spread diabetic though, and most peole get diagnosed before that happens. I know what you mean. I thought i had it too at one point. I hinted at it, but then just waited till my physical. The doctor didn't say anything, but i still felt wierd. If i ate alot of suger i would feel really sick, and i was thirsty and i really had all the symptoms too. my dad had diabetes type 2 so i asked him about some things, and then told him how i felt. I still haven't been diagnosed, but I've atalked to my dad alot. My grandpa and my dad both have diabetes, so i have to be really careful or i could get it too. I would say, just tell your mom how you're feeling, and tell her you want to get tested. As far as i know they can tell from just a blood test, and your mom would probably be ok with having you tested. From what you said about only gaining 1 pound, that doesn't sound like diabetes I'm not a doctor yet, but I have done alot of research on diabetes and i don't know what other symptoms you may have, but if it's just that, you probably just have a fast matabalisim. LUCKY YOU! Do you know how many people wish they could eat all that food and only gain one pound? So if that's all, you have, then you can find out just to relax you, but just talk to your mom and tell her straight out that you feel like something is wrong and you want to get tested. There is a website that has a symptoms checker that will tell you what could be wrong. It's called www.wedmd.com just click on symptomchecer. It'll explain the rest. Good luck! I hope everything is ok! Hope this helps you.

Jesusfreak put in a slightly mistyped address. it is www.webmd.com then follow the rest of his suggestions. Now, got some spending $$$?? go to Walgreen drugstore and get a SideKick glucose monitor. they are about $35 and have 50 strips in them. When done or after 90 days, just toss the thing in the trash. Check your fasting glucose when you get up. It should be less than 100. If it is more than 126, get thee to the doctor's office without fail. That is over the mark for type 2 diabetes. Generally type 1 is diagnosed in the ER with the person passed out!! They spend their learning curve in the hospital learning how to cope. Type 2 is diagnosed by one of two tests: Hemeglobin A1c and GTT. A1c is simple blood test which measures glucose sticking to blood, and is average of last 90 days with emphasis on last 30. GTT is Glucose Tolerance Test. It is a very nasty syrup you drink after nurse pricks your finger. then you wait about an hour and get pricked and more glucose syrup. Very unpleasant if you are indeed type 2 diabetic as it causes a violent headache and nasty attitude. Just because you are not an adult doesn't mean you can't be type 2!! More and more kids are being diagnosed. If I were you with your family history, I would change my food plan immediately!! For example quit with the mac n cheese, cereal, buns on burgers, honey buns, potato chips and french fries!! Start eating more salads - they are not for sissies! the cheese burgers or cheese is good food to go with the salad, just only have the bottom half of the bun. That should also help with your other problems too!! Got a swim pool nearby?? go swimming!! Got a gym nearby? go do some workouts there. go to the mall and walk rapidly twice around the ground floor then slow down and do a couple of slower laps. are you trying to gain weight and can't?? but gaining even one pound would be great for undiagnosed D!!!

Type one diabetes usually affects children and young people due to extensive damage of the beta cells of the pancreas. Virus or toxins might be the culprits. In full blown type one diabetes, people will have polyuria (produces much urine), polydypsia (drink a lot because of thirst), and polyphagia (eat more because of hunger). If I were you, I would do regular aerobic exercises; of course with conditioning period. If I were overweight, I would reduce my food intake and do more exercises. If you hesitate of suffering from diabetes, you can visit a pharmacy and buy a set of diabetic test to measure your blood sugar levels. You should take your fasting blood sugar level, as well as the ones of an hour and two hours after your meal. If the results are higher than normal, the you have to visit your family doctor..

Does not sound like diabetes - but it does sound like something - How old are you? Can you make a Doctor's appointment? Don't hint to your mother - tell her. Make a chart of everything you have been eating - also how is your activity level? Are you tired? Try to get a complete physical - and blood work done. Only testing can determine what is really wrong - and it may be nothing. Try not to worry unnecessarily.

There is a simple blood test for diabetes now. One test can determine your blood sugar levels for the past three months. It's called an H1C test. Tell your mom that you are worried and need a check up.

You can actually reverse Type 2 diabetes sometimes by losing weight, eating better, and exercising. But sometimes its not that simple. Some people with Type 2 can do all of those things and still have to live with it and take medication for the rest of their life. An endocrinologist could help you figure out if doing these things might help reverse your diabetes or not. If it is something that runs in your family you might be suck with it regardless of what you do.
