Question: Hi guys, please help me, im desperate for answers! 3 days ago I bought 8 male guppies from the pet store. I have the heater set to 25 Celsius (77 farenheight) yesterday they developed pointed tails, like they were CLOSED up. Then i woke up this morning and all of them but 3 were dead.... WHAT THE HELL!? I've kept fish for a long time but not tropicals before... Can anyone please tell me what's happening??!?! and how to save the last 3 before they go to the same fate? (tank readings today are: GH:180, KH:80, pH: 7.2, no2: 0, no3: 0, ammonia should also be 0 as its just 3 days old water.) ANY IDEAS ARE APPRECIATED GREATLY! i added de chlorinator, some aquarium salts, ammonia processing bacteria and a ph regulator.

Before I can help, I have a question. The fish that had pointed tails, are their tails decaying? Edit: Finrot can be the result of a bacterial infection (which causes a more ragged rotting), or as a fungal infection (which rots the tail more evenly and is more likely to produce a white 'edge'). Sometimes, both types of infection are seen together. Infection is commonly brought on by bad water conditions, injury, or poor diet. Bad water conditions can be caused by not cleaning out a tank enough for the number of fish you have in there. I don't understand, do any fish have it now? If so treat the tank with the right medicine. Go to the pet store and ask the pet store people where the medicine you need is. Skim through the whole package and paper of the medicine at the pet store to make sure everything is okay for you. This is because some medicines are harmful to animals you could have in the tank like snails, shrimp, small fish, etc.? If one or two of the remaining three fish you have, have it and you have a goldfish bowl, take the water out of the tank and put it into the bowl. Use a fraction of the medicine needed to treat the fish. Like if the medicine says use two packages for every ten gallons of water your tank has, and your goldfish bowl is one gallon, you would use 20% of one package since one gallon is 1/10 or 10% of ten gallons. Otherwise leave the fish in the tank. If your tank is a new tank email me. I have important info. for a new tank that includes beneficial bacterial growth. Without it fish can die. If your tank is an old one how often did you siphon out that water? Tropical fish tanks need to be siphoned out at least once every two weeks for healthy fish keeping, one fish expert says, just to let you know. The fish that died may have gotten it from the pet store.

Hi, I would say your new tank wasn't cycled before th fish went in. Cycling a new tank is really important. I set up a new tank 8b days ago. This is what I did. I used rinsed gravel, and added a handful from a good tank to seed with good bacteria. Then added live plants and ornaments, also from another tank. After a day I added one Platy whch I had bred. Each day I added one more platy, until there were 5. All are well, no losses. I will add more fish soon. The tank is aqua one 620T.. about 130 litres I think. I want to have beautiful Angel Fish, about 3 or 4, and 2 drarf gouramis. The tank at day 8 is in an algae bloom now. Once it clears, I will slowly add the remainig fish. I set the temp at 27 degrees. Anywhere from 24-32 is tolerable. Then it is cycled. Meaning the benaficial bacteria are established, and the amonia, nitrates and nitrites are at safe levels. I dont do testing. Just use common sense. Do some research on Cycling a fish tank. Your fish died because they overwhelmed your bio system.

Did you add tap water conditioner? Is the tanks and water completely new? If you just set up your tank, then the bacteria bed as not formed so the ammonia will rise MUCH MUCH faster. To safe your guppies, add bio bacteria. Next time, cycle your fish tank and add less fish in the beginning. Good luck.

Did you leave the tank long enough before putting fish in-that might have something to do with it,because friendly bacteria levels were too high.leave it a week to be safe.another reason could be stress,if you didn't leave the bag in to equalize the temp that could have done it.Also, never forget to de chlorinate the water, because it contains harmful ions.Otherwise they may have been ill-if you need advice ,ask at a pet store.Good luck!

Low carb diet - less than 24 carbs a day. Cuts out sweets, bread, rice, pasta, fries. Eat more lean meats and vegetables. Grilled chicken, steak, whatnot. You can research it. With this diet you can retain fluid so must drink a lot of water. Exercise twice a day. The elliptical is good. Walking can help you lose and maintain weightloss. Start with a mile and gradually increase. Keep your times each day and try to walk a mile faster every three days. Moderate weightlifting with minimal weight because you are young and you would only want to tone anyway, Not build muscle. Lift nothing above 30 lbs. After you have reached your goal you could up the weight. This has worked for me. I haven't been as strict as I should but I have lost 36 lbs. with this plan. Let me tell you up front 190 - 115 is a steep slope and a doctor to tell you to lose it in a month is .. (insane). It will be difficult, but this is for your health and your were really right when you said life or death.Taking control of your lifestyle is important.. Are you up to the challenge? I believe you can do it!
