Dr. T Colin Campbell wrote "The China Study" thati describes an ideal diet based upon hundreds of peer reviewed scientific studies. The diet is based on a whole plant diet that avoids animal fats and animal proteins. It's beyond Vegan, because there are many convenience foods that contain excess fats, oils, additives, colorings, flavorings, and hormones that are simply unhealthy.
+ Refined carbohydrates, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, honey, and artificial sweeteners and artificial flavors (MSG, aspartame).
+ Meat of all kinds (including fish)
+ Eggs (avoid even egg whites)
+ Dairy (Cheese, milk, yogurt)
+ All commercial drinks including juices and soda pop.
+ Commercially packaged products with over six ingredients on the label.
+ Supplements: Omega-3, B-12, correct dose of vitamin D (if you do not get out in the sun very much).
+ Vegetables and Leafy Green Vegetables (A Green Smoothie is ideal and provides plenty of calcium, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals)
+ Fruits (whole fruits, not commercial juices).
+ Legumes and brown rice (for protein) whole grains are good.
I lost 50 pounds on this diet and am on the way to lose another 50 pounds. I'm losing about one pound per week. Make sure to get at least 2000 calories per day and get some good aerobic exercise most days. I exercise about 90 minutes a day. Don't lose more than 2 pounds a week or cut calories too much because this will be counter productive in the long run. Your metabolism could slow to counteract low calorie input and it will then be much harder to lose the weight.
