Miscarriage?

Miscarriage? Topic: Miscarriage?

Question: Ok so I'm almost 8 weeks pregnant now and have been reading some pregnancy books. I was reading some stuff about miscarriages and I got to thinking...there's been a couple times where I totally skipped my period a month but then it came later the next month. I didn't have cramps that were any worse than normal period cramps I get, but the bleeding was a little heavier. I took preg. tests both times this happened and they were neg. Do you think I could have still been pregnant and the tests couldn't pick up the hormone and I could have miscarried without knowing it and just thought it was a late period. I've heard this happens quite often. I've read that something like half of all miscarriages happen before the mother even knows they're pregnant.

I think many women worry about this, I know I have. I've just settled that I'll never really know. I skipped periods from time to time before I was sexually active, and I remind myself of that. It could have just as easily been a stress delay, diet, exercise, weight gain or loss or any number of things besides a pregnancy. A pregnancy at one or two weeks is really nothing in size and could go unnoticed. A pregnancy at 4 weeks would be noticed, I'd think, because there would be some fluid at that point. I have heard of people actually mourning these possible miscarriages, and I think that's not a good way to spend one's time or energy. There's no way to prove it one way or the other. So to you , I say enjoy your pregnancy and don't worry about this much more!

I had a miscarriage when I was four weeks pregnant and I did not even know it at the time. I went to the hospital because the bleeding and cramping were really bad, so most people can tell something is wrong, even if you don't think you are having a miscarriage. Most likely, if the tests you took came out negative, then you were not pregnant. The tests that are available today are 99% effective. Honestly, don't worry about it. You are pregnant now, so enjoy it. Congratulations and I hope the pregnancy goes smoothly.

i took 5 pregnancy tests from the time i was 1 month till i was about 2 1/2 months and only 2 were positive. i was sure that i wasnt pregnant and took a test to prove to my husband and it was negative. as it turns out i was about a month and a half and the test were reading negative. they are not 100% so i would say that there is a possibility you could have been pregnant but there is no way to confirm it.

Hello. If you have had a previous miscarriage, you would have known about it. It's not something that will just pass like a normal period. You will have heavy bleeding with or without very bad menstrual like pains and you will possibly pass some sort of pregnancy tissue. Now if you had a missed abortion, you would have needed a D&C to get rid of the tissue that was left inside of your uterus. You might have have irregular periods that were making it difficult to determine a normal period pattern.

this could have been the case, or your cycle could have been off due to stress or some other factor. If the level of hcg wasn't high enough depending on when you took the test, it might not have been picked up either.

idk. for it to have happened more than once maybe your cycle was thrown off. maybe from stress or maybe your like my mom and for the life of you will never have a normal you can count on me to come this week of every month period. congrats tho and don't stress too much! you're only 8 wks pregnant so relax and rest a lot. keep your feet up as much as possible! good luck!

sorry for your pain, literally ive had two terrible miscarriages, wont get into details, but make sure you follow up with gyn in at least 3 mo.your definitely going to experience some odd cycling going on. depending on your body, how it heals, even your age plays a part; but mainly because after your body was exposed to pregnancy hormones,it doesn't take much for your system to get thrown out of whack. its normal if you see spotting in between periods for a few months, just depends on how your body handles it.your physical activity, diet, even emotional health can change your cycle at any time.
