It's best to feed puppies 2-3 times a day. A yorkie-mix is a small dog, so it will probably only eat around 1/4 cup at a time. (Also, the food you buy will have general feeding instructions on it.) Make sure you get a quality dog food (or puppy food in your case, since you're dog is still a puppy). Keep water available for it at all times. Read the ingredients on the food you buy. Go with a high quality dog food. A grain should not be in the first couple ingredients ingredient (corn and such are mainly fillers, dogs don't digest it well). Avoid foods that have a lot of "by products" listed. Here is an article about byproducts: http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?... And an article on what ingredients to avoid: http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?... --- Some GOOD foods are : * Merrick - http://www.merrickpetcare.com/ * Solid Gold - http://www.solidgoldhealth.com/ * Canidae - http://www.canidae.com/ * Timberwolf - http://timberwolforganics.com/ * Orijen - http://www.championpetfoods.com/orijen/orijen/ * Wellness - http://www.omhpet.com/wellness/ * Chicken Soup brand - http://www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com/ * Innova - http://www.naturapet.com/brands/innova.asp * Innova EVO - http://www.naturapet.com/brands/evo.asp Or check this website for good foods: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ (I recommend only feeding foods rated 4, 5, or 6 stars. Anything 3 stars or less, I would stay away from.) --- Beware "premium" foods. "Premium" does not mean good nutritionally, and is not a nutritionally high quality food. It has the same types of ingredients as grocery store foods, just a bit better quality of those not-so-good ingredients. (Premium foods are those like Iams, Eukanuba, Science Diet, etc..) Another thing to be wary of: A lot of vets will recommend what they sell in their office. They get profit from the brands they keep on their shelves, that's why they push it. Truth is, vet schools don't focus a lot on nutrition. It's not saying that a vet is a bad vet because he recommends those foods, a lot of vets just are told "this is good food", so they pass the message along without proper nutrition knowledge. Also, some dog food brands (like Hills) support vet schools, so vets have heard of it from the time they start college, which makes them think it's good as well. --- You'll also want to get some of the food that the puppy is currently on so you can switch it gradually. I do this over about a two week timespan: 25% food A, 75% food B 50% food A, 50% food B 75% food A, 25% food B 100% food A

Pedigree is a ok brand of dog food, you could pay a little more for Beneful puppy food since it has vegetables in them or maxium nutrition, most of all other dog foods say they have chicken beef pork or what ever but read the ingredients all it is meal liver meal beef meal chicken meal wich is really not good for your dog, the three that i name were recommended by my vet to use, Here is another way to keep your lab healthy put him on vitamins daily this will also help to give your dog the nutrients that are not in the dog food, check out http://nuvetlabs.com read there ingedients and facts about there vitamins, i use the vitamins for my dogs and they are healthy, vet said after checkup that the vitamins i am using are among the top of the line, and are very good, I dont agree with some of the dog foods being named by DP if there were something wrong with them then they would already be pulled, the food and health administration would have had stores pull these items, not only i asked my vet before i bought beneful if it was just another low quality brand and the vet stated no other wise they wouldnt be selling brands like beneful, maximun nutrition, innova, the brands dont have just beef meal or chicken and liver meal wich is fake, Maxium Nutriention ingredient is real Lamb I had that confirmed by my friend who works for the company that make produces Maximum Nutrition and said yes it is real lamb, and that it is not the fake beef that is mixed with soybean, at the Animal Vet hospital, I was recommended beneful for my puppies and maximum nutrition for my adult dogs and still using it

Puppies should be fed 3 times a day, but as it gets older, 2 times a day. Yorkiepoo's don't eat that much at first because they're small, so they have small stomachs, but you can always buy a small food and water bowl and fill the food to the top. Same with the water. Make sure the food & water bowl is not that big though, because a Yorkiepoo isn't a big dog. To help you out more, Purina: Puppy Chow is a really good brand of puppy food. It gives the right amount of vitamins for your puppy.

I too just bought a puppy! My vet said that you should feed it 3 times a day, just like you should eat. Make sure it is puppy food, others are too harsh for the puppy's system! Keep them on puppy food for at least a year! And let the puppy eat as much as he wants for 15 minutes, after 15 mins pick up food until next feeding! Good luck! Make sure you take the puppy outside like 20 mins afters feeding to go potty, also as soon as he wakes up take him out right away this will help with potty training. Our puppy is nine weeks old and asks to go outside already!

The breeder/shelter/rescue group (pet store?) should provide you with this information. It's important that you find out what the puppy has been eating because, even if you decide to change, you need to do it gradually.

pickup some puppy chow and a bowl and give him a handful of food and a full bowl of water... if he is new to the house he might not eat right away... so dont worry if hes not eating, he will when he is hungry

You truly need to have a vet discuss this with you. That breed is very delicate and needs special care. They want to be with you all the time so I hope you are prepared. They are like little people!!!Congratulations

dont get puppy chow! that is almost the worst you can get. Try to get an all natural food like: - natural balance - canidae - origin - or raw
