Question: I'm going grocery shopping. I'm recovering from an ED and I want to eat healthy. I like hummus & cucumbers. I'm allergic to oranges, apples and pineapples so none of that. I need some ideas for healthy snacking foods and well-rounded dinners. Thanks.

okay, to get into shape , speed up your metabolism, rid yourself of excess toxins in your blood or fat to lose weight ,,,,,do as follows: Stop drinking & smoking (if you do this regularly) eat fruits & vegetables all you can (buy a food/rice steamer to make it easy on you)...(vegetables might not seem "tasty", like junk foods, at first,,, but can be as you aquire your taste to them..and are loaded with energy and nutrients)...avoid all junk food, cokes, sweets, etc...and drink water . If you eat meat ,,use only steamed, baking or grilled methods for preparing fish or chicken. also, do an hour of walking each day at least. or some type of excercise. * you should lose about 10 lbs per month

Here are some healthy snack ideas :) ~ Veggies & hummus - veggies like raw carrot sticks, lightly steamed broccoli, celery, slices of bell pepper, cucumber slices or sticks, sliced cherry tomatoes, etc. ~ Greek yogurt or regular yogurt - Greek yogurt has more protein than regular yogurt ~ Fruit/berries + greek or regular yogurt ~ Apple slices dipped in a tbsp of nut butter, like almond butter or peanut butter - nut butter without added sugar ~ Trail mix: nuts, seeds, dried fruit like cherries, blueberries or cranberries, dark chocolate bits or chips ~ Whole grain crackers with cheese or hummus ~ Whole grain crackers, cheese, grapes ~ Nuts (1/4 cup), seeds ~ Pita chips with hummus + veggies ~ All natural sweet potato chips, fat free natural popcorn ~ Healthy cereal (such as Kashi or Nature's Path Organic; high fiber not to high in sugar) ~ Healthy cereal + skim milk or non-dairy milk or yogurt, you can also add in berries/fruit ~ Small whole grain tortilla with a tbsp of almond or peanut butter & a tbsp of natural jam or sliced banana ~ Small whole wheat pita with hummus, veggies ~ Plain greek yogurt with berries/fruit - drizzle of honey, agave, or natural jam for sweetness ~ Kashi granola bar, Kind fruit & nut bar, Lara bar - healthy snack bars, go for bars high in protein and fiber ~ Whole grain waffle or pancake with toppings like light cream cheese, jam, honey, berries/fruit, agave nectar, nonfat yogurt, etc ~ Cottage cheese + fruit/berries - for example pineapple chunks or any kind of berry ~ Fruit salad; try different combinations like: + a greek yogurt - Strawberries, kiwi - Watermelon, grapes, strawberries - Banana, mango, pineapple - Watermelon, honey dew melon, pineapple - Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries - Apple or pear, strawberries ~ Homemade smoothie: using fruit/berries of your choice with skim milk or non-dairy milk with nonfat yogurt, you can also add 1 or 2 tbsp ground flax seed. ~ Apple, dried apricots I hope this helps :) ♥
