It sounds like you are doing great. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. The things you ate are not that unhealthy, and you didn't consume them in large quantities. One way to combat the way you feel is to cut down your weigh-ins to once a week. It is tempting to weigh yourself daily (or more) when you know you are doing well, because it motivates you. But if you have a little slip-up, then all the scale shows you is how you have failed. By cutting back your weigh-ins to once a week, as long as you stick to your diet for the most part, you will show a weight loss every time. You should try incorporating more satisfying items into your diet. There are great low-calorie, sugar-free ice cream bars available, and other snacks. There are even fat-free sugar-free puddings! Your diet is going to take some getting used to, and your body will probably always have unhealthy cravings. You should keep things on-hand to satisfy them.

First of all, don't let dieting become an obsession. Second, don't beat yourself up for taking a break. And that's all you did, "take a break." You didn't ruin your diet. Go back to your diet tomorrow and you may find that actually doing this was beneficial...it can sort of serve to "jump start" your metabolism to burn more calories. So please don't fret and don't worry and don't feel bad. BUT (here comes a lecture) the loss of 5 pounds in 5 days when you first start dieting and working out is not unusual, however, that is an excessive weight loss if it continues and you'll be doing yourself more harm than good. Now at your age you may not worry about things you don't see like kidneys and the heart and you really won't care if I tell you that excessively fast weight loss can harm those organs. But losing too much weight too fast can cause your hair to fall out, so you don't want to go there! Diet and exercise and try to lose about 2 pounds a week. Enjoy an occasional break from your diet once a week or every 10 days or so, and you'll be fine. Good luck and stay healthy.

fat *** also, you probably just lost WATER weight your whole paragraph full of whining is not a title - do not capitalize every word/every other word. it's not cool. it's not cute. it makes you look dumb. those nature valley bars are full of SUGAR and so is everything else you binged on. those aren't good in moderation - 1 cookies or 20 cookies is still bad for you and you shouldn't eat any foods junk AT ALL. anybody deluded enough to think middle schoolers and even 3rd graders don't care about what their peers weigh or look like is stupid. use your binge as a lesson and do better tomorrow. you can't perfect everything on the first try, but you can learn to do better - even if you mess up some more (you will because you're fat and you love sugary foods). get some more whole grains and fiber in your diet (quaker's cinnamon oatmeal - it's the weight control kind - is great for this).

Thnk about it this way...you've already ate what you ate so don't linger too much on the past. You can't change what's already happened. So you screwed up once...who cares? You've already proven to yourself that you can lose weight because you HAVE lost 5 pounds, so bravo to you. As long as you keep working hard on the diet you'll lose the weight no problem. And you're only twelve so you have tons of time to get to whatever weight you want to get to before high school. My suggestion is just to keep thinking positive and be dedicated to your goal.

Cheating on a diet will slow fat loss, but not permanently. The best you can do is to get right back on your diet and keep chugging along! You'll be back on track, losing fat in no time. The other answers regarding 'cheating' are really only pertinent for people who are in absolute control of their food intake, like bodybuilders. They usually have a very regimented program of strict eating when they want to lose weight, but will have a cheeseburger or some other cheat food once a week in order to stay sane. So if you feel the need for some 'bad' food, just understand that it's going to slow fat loss. Maybe you can afford that, but if you want optimal results just tough it out for a while longer!
