Question: I'm a guy who's 27 years old, 5'7" and now weigh 130 pounds. Most of my life I've been overweight. A year and a half a go I weighed 190 pounds. I've always wanted to be thin, and when I say "thin" I mean flat stomach thin. So I started to lose weight. 180, 170, 160, 150, 140, and now 130. The thing is, my stomach seems to appear different than most people around my height. I for the life of me can't figure out why my stomach isn't flat given that the fact that there are people who are shorter than me, who weigh more than I do, in yet their stomach is flat. I would have figured at this height and weight it would have been flat by now. Please help me. How much more weight do I have to lose? 10 pounds? 15 pounds? The reason you are so light but still have a small amount of belly fat is simply that you don't have much muscle. It is highly likely that while you were dieting you may have lost quite a bit of muscle as well as fat. If you have not been doing any resistance exercise or been relatively inactive your body will burn muscle if it is not being used. (your body just see's it as an uneeded energy source) To maintain muscle while in calorie deficit(diet) you must keep your diet high in protein and be doing at least one resistance (weight) workout per week. Our bodies store fat in different places and for men the belly, (especially the lower belly) is usually the last place fat will disappear from. Targeting fat reduction from specific body parts (spot reduction) is a complete myth, it just doesn't happen, our body looses fat in specific orders at different rates from different area's. (men and women loose fat from different area's much differently) Generally body fat% (not BMI) is the best indicator of how we are shaping up. For men a flat belly should come in at about 15% , ab definition should come in about 10% but well defined abs may require a body fat close to 6% There are many online body fat % tests you can do with a tape measure at home. They all vary slightly so it is best to do a few and get an average. This will give you an idea of what your body% is and how far away you are from your goal. (based on percentages you can also figure out how much overall weight with your current muscle composition you will need to loose) As well as weight there are only a couple of other factors that effect your belly. Bad posture can make your belly bulge, and also flabby muscle, doing an ab workout a couple of times a week for about 15mins is all it really takes to develop an outstanding six pack (as well as a low body fat%) Flabby muscle really doesn't look much different from fat. You will also find that developing your chest(pecs) will radically change your physique. When your chest stands out, your belly will immediately look flatter in comparison. My personal opinion would be to keep your diet high in protein, and do a twice a week moderate all over body workout. Will boost your metabolism and help burn fat but at the same time build/firm/maintain muscle. No need to go too full on to begin with, get your body comfortable and increase weight as your confidence builds. I went from 200-160lbs in about 8 months but focused a lot on building/maintaining muscle while I was doing it. Your stomach is your problem area. Your body keeps the supply of fat here, in case of famine and such. You need to target it specially. jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have to work double on them. The best approach is this: 1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal weight, lower for overweight). 2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage. 3. Target your problem areas with exercises. an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture, for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your body back, until it's parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week, guaranteed! Your stomach would be flatter and stronger. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

Those are excess skin that came from being overweight before. At the current stage the only way to remove those excess skin is through surgery, but some people keep them to show off how much work they've done to lose the weight. The more weight you lose, the more excess skin, or more "saggy" the skin becomes.

*Yes it does all of the following you stated, but only if you maintain a healthy diet. You will see faster, and better results. You don't even need to waste money on a treadmill. You can go jogging outside. Get some fresh air, alittle sun, and take some sights in.
