Feeling cold after drinking Diet Pepsi?

Feeling cold after drinking Diet Pepsi? Topic: Feeling cold after drinking Diet Pepsi?

Question: After drinking Diet Pepsi, my 15 year old little sister always complains about feeling cold - to the point where she is shivering. Does anyone know why this is or what could be causing it ? My theory, is that she is drinking too much of it. She is literally addicted to it, drinking up to 5 liters a day ! She is also very underweight, could this be linked to it ? How concerned should we be ? jlapage1: 1) It's not kept in the fridge, there wouldn't be enough room. It's 2 litre bottles i'm talking about here. 2) No colder then the average house. 3) She is addicted. 4) Well, it hasn't yet. jacqueline s: If only it was that easy ! Although, in all other aspects they are great parents, my mum and dad are both far too lenient on my sister and do not enfore discipline. I have told my mum on many occasions that she needs to learn to say no to her, but she can't. My sister gets what she wants off of them, and she knows it. If they didn't buy it for her, she would start playing up and after half an hour maximum of listening to her shouting and screaming, they would go out and buy her some.

Oh she is definitely drinking too much of it. In fact she might dehydrated, that is why she is so cold. Diet pepsi has caffeine which is a diuretic. It makes you urinate and doesn't hydrate you like water does. I bet she doesn't drink much water either. If she is drinking 5 liters a day and is underweight, she needs to see a doctor. That much caffeine is really bad and she could actually go into shock if you cut her off completely.

Very. But don't freak out. lets elaborate a little. If the drink is cold that could cause shivering. Sorry, have to state the obvious first. Second, Diet Pepsi has low caloric value. Calories are measure of heat expenditure. No calories to burn, not thermogenic process. Third, 5 liters of ANYTHING besides water is a bad idea. Now will it kill her or put her in the hospital, probably not. Not directly anyway. but the lack of calories and proper nutrients in her system can. So yes she needs to get off the Diet Pepsi, but don't panic. You'd be surprised the level of toxins the human body can withstand. She'll be fine once you get her eating healthy again. And although it's not a "fun" chemical. there is no proven connection between aspertame and shivering.

I'm no doctor but seems to me that she's drinking way to much of it. Tell who ever she's living with to stop buying this product and start making her drink water. I don't think the underweight is from the pop because I saw on the news that recent health studies found a fake sugar that is actually gaining more weight than taking away. You really should be very concerned because if she drinks way to much like she is now then she might pass out because she is dehydrated. Good luck!

I drink about very cold 3 dietcoke (in cans) a day. I know theyre not good for me and should be drinking more water but I love my diet pepsi. But yeah, It can be addicting and Im trying to limit my intake.

Aspartame is the probable cause. its the artificial sweetener in diet drinks. what happens is it turns into formaldehyde in your liver and if there is a buildup then some side effects can occur. Just stop giving her diet drinks, and drink lots of water.
