Question: was playing basketball and was either kicked or kneed in the left calf. If felt like a charlie horse in your thigh so I continued playing. More than 2 weeks later, it is still highly sensative to the touch and extremely stiff and sore as if I had just run a marathon or done 500 calf extensions in the gym. Eventually the bruise spread across my entire leg below the injury and was really ugly. That has since diminished but the pain remains. What is the best treatment for this type of injury?

What is a Bruise A bruise is an area of skin discoloration. A bruise occurs when small blood vessels break and leak their contents into the soft tissue beneath the skin. There are 3 types of bruises. 1. Subcutaneous - beneath the skin. 2. Intramuscular - within the belly of the underlying muscle. 3. Periosteal - bruising of the bone. Bruises can last from days to months, with the bone bruise being the most severe and painful. Bruises are often caused by falls, sports injuries, car accidents, or blows received by other people or objects. If you take a blood thinner, like aspirin or warfarin (Coumadin), you are likely to bruise more easily. The main symptoms are pain, swelling, and skin discoloration. The bruise begins as a pinkish red color that can be very tender to touch. It is often difficult to use the muscle that has been bruised. For example, a deep thigh bruise is painful when you walk or run. Eventually, the bruise changes to a bluish color, then greenish-yellow, and finally returns to the normal skin color as it heals. --------------------------------------... Check here a very effective Sciatica Natural Treatment ( http://cure-sciatica.info ) Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen. I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica.

i think that the best way well what works for me is soaking in a really warm bath and after wards gently massaging the area with baby some tiger balm and then being cafeful on your feet give it about another week and if it doesnt get better i would seek a professional opinion cause it ccould be a torn ligament or somethin

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/awkMm because if you wear heels for long periods you shorten the muscles in the calf area. and when you change to flat shoes then you lengthen those muscles,so if you have worn heels for a long time thats why it hurts its the muscles saying help!!
